Leather Strap for Fitbit Charge

Leather Fitbit Strap

My friend Sierra has gone through two Fitbit Charge’s now. Each time the strap game unglued from the FitBit itself. There’s really nothing you can do to fix it at that point except for try to glue it back together. She asked me if I could try making a leather strap for her old one and I gladly accepted the challenge.

I didn’t take any progress photos since this was a pretty small project. Basically, I measured the original band and then designed a new one in Sketchup. It’s made in two pieces. The main strap is the bigger piece. The FitBit sits on top of that and is held in place with a smaller piece of leather. The two leather pieces are attached together with brass rivets. I still needed a way to prevent the FitBit from slipping out the sides, so I went with the suede lace method you see in the photos. You can still press the button on the left side, and I left a hole in the bottom for access to the charging port. I think it looks cool, though it is a little bulky. It kind of has a steam punk look to it.
